So close, so close

POL-ITE 2009 Women Soccer has concluded and Team Republic lost out 2-3 in their last game against NP on NP's home ground last Friday.

The team was down 3-1 after the first half and was more determined to give NP an uphill challenge in the 2nd half. Indeed, they did and Yati replied after Shasha Daud's goal to close in on the scoring gap. Team Republic was hungry and tried very hard, creating every chance and finding every means to score the equalizer as it meant that if they do, they would finish the tournament as 3rd place winners. Unfortunately, NP also gave Team Republic a hard time, cancelling out every chance that could meant a 3-3 draw at the final whistle.

ITE finishes as champions of POL-ITE 2009 with NP and NYP following behind 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Indeed it is yet another POL-ITE 2009 for Women's Soccer and Team Republic looks forward to reaching Greater Heights for POL-ITE 2010.

Goalless, it is.

The match between Team Republic and NYP ended in a goalless as both team fought hard to earn 3 points, however, in vain.

Defenders from both teams were kept very busy, having to clear out all dangerous balls that entered the danger box/penalty area. Also not to mention that Team Republic's captain, Farrah, who was in goal, was tremendously heroic throughout the match, making plenty of point-blank saves to ensure that her team goes home with at least a point in the bag. The captain had been commanding her defence line literally every single minute of the match.

Thumbs up to NYP for putting up a tough battle against Team Republic!

Sha sha, who was a constant threat, uses her speed to beat NYP's captain to the ball.

Next up, Team Republic faces POL-ITE host NP at their very homeground tomorrow, 7 Aug 2009. The match would determine whether Team Republic would make it to the quarter-finals of the annual tournament.

Come on down and support the team!

Onto the next match...

The blog apologises for the late update...

The team lost out 4-0 to ITE last Tuesday as ITE constantly peppered Team Republic with their attacks and shots at goal. Team Republic did well to defend for the first 20 minutes before ITE put the ball into the net. In the second half, Team Republic conceded another 2 goals but continued to make it a hard time for ITE by clearing out the ball out of the danger area each time ITE attacked. Team Republic was also close on a couple of occasions, with Sha Sha and Ilyana coming close to scoring a goal or two.

Sha Sha keeps the ball away from Nora of ITE. Sha sha created plenty of problems for ITE with her fast pace down the right flank.

Nina races with her U19 team mate, Lia Hashim towards the ball.

Next up, the team faces NYP tonight, 7pm @ Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Come on down and give your fullest support!
