Sad Sunny Sunday

With Hari Raya here over the weekend, the matches are all scheduled earlier and today's match against Singapore American School (SAS) kicked off at 5pm.

Team Republic WST was looking to grab their first win however, lost out to a huge scoreline of 1-4. The team conceded early and trailed by 2 goals in the first ten minutes. SAS continued to with good passing play, held great possession and rained many attacks and shots at Team Republic WST's half. The defenders were extremely busy at the back, trying to block and clear off shots from SAS forwards. End of first half and the SAS bagged 3 goals.

In the second half, many changes were made and alumni Faraheen was replaced by Norlyn and alumni Yi Wen was introduced to boost the attack. However, the combination of speed and skill of SAS's number 10, together with the great passing play between SAS players sealed the game. SAS's number 10 was quick to react to a connecting ball from her team mate on the left and scored the 4th goal for SAS from a one on one with Team Republic's WST keeper.

The only consolation goal for Team Republic WST was a consolation own goal from a SAS player who intended to clear the ball out but was unlucky. The ball went over their own keeper and into the net.

4 of Team Republic's WST Alumni are included in the squad and this evening, Shasha, Yati and Faraheen were among the starting 11. Shasha came close to putting the score back up to 1-3 in the first half but SAS keeper was quick to come forward to collect the ball.

End of the week and 1-4, was the score at final whistle. Definitely a sad way to end the week but the team would be looking forward to getting back on the field this week after a week of tests!

The next match would be played at Team Republic's WST homeground come Wednesday. So let's hope the team put up a good game and a first victory!
